Ex Oblivione Ad Infinitum

Hailing from a rural community in the depths of Missouri, Nicholas’s early years were spent exploring the ruins and lonely places that dot the forests and countryside.

Graduating from the University of Kansas with a BFA in Visual Arts in 2017, he spent his time there focusing on research, printmaking, and entomology. In the summer of 2016 he studied abroad in Japan to work on traditional woodcarving and papermaking practices.

Moving to Los Angeles in 2019, Nicholas had a brief stint as a sculptor and prop-maker before a pandemic prompted him to change course and begin developing a line of RPG-related puzzle boxes and dice towers.

Much of his work reflects his roots as a practicing Pagan, and seeks to illuminate the complex interrelationships between people and their environment. His recent work has been centered on reinterpretations of classical occult themes, including a reimagining of traditional western alchemy and its relationship to the biology of honeybees.

His current focus is a series of kinetic sculptures / machines called Zephyrgraphs, which utilize the wind to create site-specific works from papers and inks made from local flora.

Nicholas is currently based in Los Angeles, where his wife, pets, and the nearby wildlife gently tolerate his experiments.
